Ok..........so I am a day late on entry! Pls forgive me!!! Went to Rushmore and what a trip that was!!!! Mostly for me it was about the natural surrounding enclosing the statues more than the carvings itself. I take that back! At the entrance, the sight was breath-taking! To actually behold the work of art on that rock was amazing! But the presidential trail walk was loooooooooooong! It wouldn't have been too bad if I hadn't missed a sighting and had to climb back up some flight of stairs!!! In an area with the warning, "Strenuous Trail"!!! Ish ...............well I made it round the trail and that walk got me thinking................time to hit the gym! Seriously!!!!! I am so out of shape weight-wise!!!!
Anyhoo.....this concludes my SD trip because I realized, to experience all that the Black Hills has to offer, one needs at least a week or two because there is so much to do and see. I returned to town to tour the museums, saw that they were closing in one hour and did not want to rush through the tour! So I decided that will be on my next trip out here.
Parked the car on 5th street in the Hardee's parking lot and took a walk around the presidential passage way! I promise if you don't look properly, them statues on each street corner looks so real!!!!!!!!!!!! Almost life-like! All in all, this was a fun trip and it has me longing to come back soon!!!!!
I just might be back for the 25th Vox (sp) march up the Crazy Horse Mt where I can be right in the face of that statue and feel the winds blowing through my hair from that height (600ft). That is if I have long hair then!
Will also want to take a tour of the caves and see the stalagthites(sp) Geography buffs help out!
Sayonara!!!!!!
